Fitness Military Alliance – Get John Into The Game

Description

With the help of The Watering Seeds Organization and The Fitness Military Alliance we are helping to combat the rising veteran suicide rate, by facilitating and promoting health and wellness programs, through free personal training. With the support of fitness trainers, club owners and fitness professionals, our process directly affect the lives of military veterans in their local communities. The success of this program will result in positive lifestyle changes, not by participating in a onetime event but, by serving military veterans and providing the education and knowledge we already possess. We provide free, accountable and sustainable personal training and education to those who have served in our armed forces with honor.

John Valverde served in the U.S. Army and National Guard as an Infantryman from 2001 – 2009. He held the role of squad automatic machine gunner, Bradley Fighting Vehicle gunner, driver, grenadier, and dismounted fire team leader. He was assigned to the C Company,1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized), Friedberg, Germany. It was with this unit that he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in April 2003 for a 15-month deployment. He led a dismounted fire team into combat during this tour and earned the coveted Combat Infantryman Badge. After Active Duty, John joined the National Guard and served in the 144th Infantry Regiment (Texas) and the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment (Tennessee).

Upon his return from Active Duty in 2004; John rejoined civilian life and landed a job at a Collections Agency. He experienced many struggles readjusting to a normal life. Initially, John had difficulty maintaining personal and business relationships. His anger and frustrations put his employment in jeopardy on several occasions. Throughout these difficulties, John managed to reintegrate himself into the civilian workforce. He took the experiences from the military and applied those principals to his civilian work. Throughout the years, John held several positions in management roles and continues to do so to this day.

John’s pride did not allow him to seek out the help many veterans need upon returning home. Fortunately for him, he reached out to the VA and got the help he needed. He’s been thankful for the help he’s received and wants to give back. He feels that his service in the military was not enough and continues to find ways to serve. John currently heads up a Veterans group at his job. He has coordinated several volunteering events over the last few years. Most recently, he’s coordinated outings to the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery where volunteers spent the day scrubbing and cleaning our fallen’s headstones.

Today, John hopes to reach his fitness goals and inspire other veterans with their military to civilian transition. With the help of The Watering Seeds Organization and The Fitness Military Alliance we can help get John back into the game in the best way that the fitness industry can.
