October 9, 2017, a wind driven firestorm enveloped dozens of communities in Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino counties in California.  Nearly 8,900 structures were destroyed and 43 lives were lost.  As of October 19, thousands of firefighters remained on-scene, risking their lives working to protect civilians.  As these firefighter returned from the front lines for much needed rest, 70 or more of these brave heroes learned that their own homes were lost.

During the first days of the fires, these brave heroes remained on the firelines, fighting to save their neighbors and community without a chance to comfort their own families or return home to assess the damage.  We now know that many firefighters lost family members, loved ones, and cherished pets in addition to losing all of their belongings.

This fund is the official fundraising platform to assist the many FIREFIGHTERS and their families who've lost homes.  All funds are managed and fully accounted for by I Fund A Hero and Marin Professional Firefighters, IAFF Local 1775 (www.iaff1775.org) and Santa Rosa Firefighters, IAFF Local 1401 (www.srff.org).  Novato Fire Foundation (Tax ID# 20-1223584) will assist us in distributing the funds, ensuring that your donation is tax deductible.

Funds raised here will be distributed equally among the 40+ firefighter families affected from IAFF Locals 1401 (Santa Rosa Firefighters), 1775 (Marin Professional Firefighters), 2881 (Cal Fire Firefighters), 55 (Oakland Firefighters), 798 (San Francisco Firefighters), 1415 (Petaluma Firefighters), 1227 (Berkeley Firefighters), and several other smaller agencies and locals.

100% of funds raised will go directly to the firefighters whose homes were damaged or destroyed by these fires.
